Nairobi, Kenya – The State Department for Foreign Affairs held its third breakfast roundtable on Thursday, August 29th, as part of the ongoing review of Kenya’s foreign policy. The focus of this session was on integrating peace and security diplomacy into the nation’s foreign policy discourse.
Representing the Principal Secretary, Dr. Korir SingO’ei, Ambassador Josphat Maikara, Deputy Director General of the America’s and the Caribbean Directorate, emphasized the strategic importance of pursuing Kenya’s peace and security objectives both regionally and globally.
Other speakers included Major General Stephen Mutuku, representing the Principal Secretary for Defense, and Ms. Beverline Opwora, representing the Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration.
A distinguished panel of experts from various fields, including Dr. Ochieng Kamudhayi (Strathmore University), Dr. Mumo Nzau (National Defence College), Brigadier Richard Mwanzia (National Defence College), Dr. Janet Kiguru (Policy Analyst), and Dr. John Mwangi (Mashariki Research Centre), contributed valuable insights to the discussion on how to develop a robust Kenya foreign policy.
The sessions were coordinated by the Committee on the Review of the Kenya Foreign Policy, led by Ambassador Lucy Kiruthu, Committee Chairperson and Deputy Director General/Head of Policy, Research, and Strategic Analysis at the State Department.
