B-well has partnered with the Eswatini Cancer Network to expand cancer awareness, screening and patient support programmes across the Kingdom.

The partnership will support ECAN’s public education campaigns, community outreach programmes, free screening initiatives and services for cancer survivors.

ECAN is a national non profit organisation that works to reduce the impact of cancer through prevention, early detection, patient support, advocacy and public education.

The organisation provides communities with information about cancer, screening services, treatment options and available support.

Figures attributed to World Population Review for 2026 indicate that Eswatini has the highest cervical cancer incidence rate in the world, at 57.8 cases per 100 000 women.

ECAN Executive Director Tengetile Kubheka said the organisation reaches thousands of Emaswati annually through cancer awareness campaigns, screening programmes and patient support services.

In 2025, ECAN reached more than 30 440 people with cancer awareness and education messages.

“ECAN provides comprehensive support to nearly 300 cancer patients and their families through psychosocial services, counselling, transport assistance, and home and hospital visits. It also distributes care hampers to help ease the financial and emotional burden faced by individuals undergoing cancer treatment and recovery,” said Kubheka.

ECAN has supported the expansion of breast and cervical cancer screening services at public health facilities by assisting with healthcare worker training and helping equip 14 facilities to provide cervical cancer screening.

The organisation has also strengthened cancer education through existing community structures and played a role in advocating for the establishment of the country’s first chemotherapy unit at Mbabane Government Hospital.

ECAN said the involvement of the Government of Eswatini and the private sector in bringing oncology services closer to communities was an important step towards improving the quality of life of patients.

Morne Botes, Commercial Director at Southern Oil, the company behind the B-well brand, said the partnership would support ECAN’s education programmes and community outreach activities.

These activities will include free cancer screening, wider public awareness campaigns and support for cancer survivors.

B-well’s pure canola oil carries the Cancer Association of South Africa Smart Choice Seal and is endorsed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa.

The company says its canola oil meets nutritional guidelines, is low in saturated fat and contains no cholesterol, trans fats or harmful additives.

“In the fight against cancer, one of the simplest and most accessible tools, dietary awareness, remains underleveraged. Diet can be a frontline defense against cancer. In particular, the quality and type of fats we consume may play a far bigger role than many realise,” said Botes.

B-well said canola oil contains an Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio of 2 to 1, as well as vitamin E and plant sterols. The company said these nutrients support cardiovascular health, brain function, metabolism, immune response and general wellbeing.

Kubheka said ECAN had seen positive results from cancer support groups and its involvement in Childhood Cancer Month, Prostate Cancer Month and Breast Cancer Month.

Support from private sector partners also strengthens Cancer Survivors Day and ECAN’s Brave the Breast Walk, an awareness and fundraising event that attracts more than 2 000 participants each year.

“B-well is the ideal partner, as we share crucial values that include caring for the community, supporting cancer survivors and assisting those currently battling cancer. Like us, they understand that we are dealing with real people and real families affected by Cancer, and that they need all the support they can get,” said Kubheka.

Botes said B-well’s commitment to healthier lifestyle choices was aligned with ECAN’s focus on prevention, awareness and patient support.

“This partnership is also representative of B-well’s own commitment to healthier lifestyle choices. We believe in providing products that support balanced nutrition and wellbeing, while contributing to broader efforts to reduce disease risk. Our purpose-driven approach and commitment to promoting healthier communities dovetails closely with ECAN’s work, and we are excited to help drive home the message that awareness, prevention and support can make a real difference,” said Botes.
