WINDHOEK – Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, has embarked on a three-day official visit to the Russian Federation from 12 to 14 January 2026. The visit comes at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and aims to strengthen bilateral relations, trade, and investment between the two countries.

During her visit, Minister Ashipala-Musavyi will meet with Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev, who co-chairs the Namibia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The commission provides a platform for reviewing existing joint projects and exploring new opportunities for industrial and economic growth.

The minister’s itinerary also includes discussions with Minister Lavrov on deepening diplomatic ties, expanding trade, and exchanging views on issues of mutual interest in the international arena. Ashipala-Musavyi will engage with business leaders to encourage investment and promote trade flows between Namibia and Russia.
