Last Thursday, HealthPlus 4 Men – Swaziland took part in a stakeholder engagement meeting hosted by the National Emergency Response Council on HIV and AIDS (NERCHA) at the Hilton Garden Inn. The meeting focused on the upcoming HIV Prevention Indaba, aimed at strengthening Eswatini’s response to HIV.
Key players in the country’s HIV fight gathered to discuss plans for the Indaba, which NERCHA sees as a critical moment to improve how HIV prevention services are designed and delivered. The event is expected to foster collaboration and community involvement to help Eswatini reach the goal of zero new HIV infections by 2030.
NERCHA’s Chairperson, Dr Nondumiso Ncube, said the Indaba will serve as a national platform to listen closely to the experiences and needs of those most affected by HIV. This includes adolescent girls and young women, people living with disabilities, key populations, public transport workers, and other groups often overlooked in health programmes.
Stakeholders voiced strong support for approaches that are inclusive, based on evidence, and that truly reflect community voices, particularly those of young people and priority populations.
