HRH Prince Lonkhokhela, Eswatini’s Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, met with representatives from Dubai-based Jampur Group to explore partnership opportunities aimed at enhancing the country’s energy security. The company, which has a diverse portfolio in shipping, power equipment, mining, and trading, is in Eswatini to discuss potential collaborations in the energy sector.

The meeting, which also included experts from the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) and the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA), focused on power generation, transmission, and distribution. HRH Prince Lonkhokhela emphasized the importance of developing a reliable and cost-effective local power generation mix to ensure the country’s energy security.

The Minister also encouraged Jampur Group to consider setting up manufacturing and assembly facilities for smart meters in Eswatini, believing this initiative could lead to job creation. He also suggested that Eswatini could become a regional hub for smart meter exports as neighboring countries modernize their electricity infrastructure.
