Lokuhle Media Group has partnered with Akuse Khula to present “An Evening with Akuse Khula – Phuphani Album Launch,” set for Friday, 14 August 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Eswatini Theatre Club in Mbabane.

The event marks the Eswatini launch of Phuphani, meaning “Dream,” the debut album by Swati vocalist, pianist, composer and cultural ambassador Akuse Khula. Organisers describe the evening as more than an album launch, positioning it as a celebration of African creativity, heritage and the power of music to inspire generations.

Lokuhle Media Group, a creative agency working to develop African talent and produce artistic experiences, said the partnership forms part of its commitment to nurturing cultural collaborations that connect Eswatini with the broader African creative landscape and to positioning the Kingdom as a destination for arts, culture and creative excellence.

Produced by South African bassist Victor Sibusiso Masondo, Phuphani is a 13 track African jazz body of work inspired by identity, resilience and the courage to pursue one’s dreams. Written primarily in siSwati, the album celebrates African heritage while encouraging communities to dream beyond limitations and contribute meaningfully to society.

Although based in Pretoria, Akuse Khula’s roots run deeply through Eswatini and Mpumalanga. His family’s journey across borders has shaped an artistic voice that reflects the shared history, language and cultural identity of both regions, with his music serving as a bridge between communities.

The organisers said the launch resonates with His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of promoting cultural preservation, empowering young people, advancing education and fostering economic growth through innovation and the creative industries.

Speaking on the partnership, Lokuhle Media Group said the event represents more than entertainment.

“The creative industry has the power to inspire hope, preserve our identity and create opportunities for future generations. Through events such as the Phuphani album launch, we continue building platforms that celebrate African excellence while contributing to the Kingdom’s vision of developing a vibrant creative economy,” the group said.

For Akuse Khula, the album is a deeply personal body of work and an invitation to every African dreamer.

“Phuphani is a reminder that our dreams matter. It is a call to believe in our potential, honour our heritage and work diligently towards building a better future for ourselves and for generations to come,” he said.

Audiences can expect an intimate evening of live African jazz, storytelling and musical performance that reflects the richness of Eswatini’s cultural heritage while showcasing one of Southern Africa’s emerging voices.

Tickets are available via SmartTickets.co.za at E250 for early bird and E350 at the door. The event is expected to attract music lovers, cultural leaders, creatives, media, business stakeholders and supporters of African arts from across the region.
