Mbabane – The Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, through the Eswatini Meteorological Service, has convened the National Climate Outlook Forum (NACOF) as the country prepares for the 2026/27 rainfall season.
The forum was held today under the theme, “From Climate Information to Early Action: Preparing Eswatini for the 2026/27 Rainfall Season,” bringing together key stakeholders to discuss how climate information can be translated into preparedness measures and timely action.
The gathering provided a platform for government departments and other stakeholders to strengthen national preparations ahead of the coming rainfall season.
The Eswatini Meteorological Service also provided an update on the prevailing El Niño conditions and their possible effects on the regional climate system.
Stakeholders were urged to consider the potential implications of the current climate conditions as part of efforts to improve preparedness and reduce the impact of climate related events.
Discussions at the forum covered several critical sectors, including agriculture, water, disaster risk management, health, energy and the environment.
Representatives from the different sectors contributed to the development of preparedness measures and early action messages tailored to their respective areas.
The Ministry said forums such as NACOF are part of ongoing efforts to improve the use of climate information and early warning systems in Eswatini.
