Second bank targeted in Manzini

Manzini – Just days after a daring robbery at Eswatini Bank’s Manzini branch, authorities have foiled another attempted break-in at a major bank in the city.

A 45-year-old suspect from Maliyaduma was arrested at Standard Bank Manzini, according to reports by the Eswatini Observer. Police found the suspect in possession of a crowbar and bolt cutter, tools believed to have been intended for the break-in. An accomplice managed to flee the scene and remains at large.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service has launched a full investigation and is appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating the fleeing suspect or uncover further details about the attempted robbery.

The latest incident comes as Manzini residents and businesses remain on edge following the E1.6 million heist at Eswatini Bank earlier this week. Police investigations into both cases are ongoing.
