MBABANE, Eswatini: India’s High Commissioner to Eswatini, N. Ram Prasad, has concluded his tenure in the Kingdom, bringing to an end a period marked by engagements with Eswatini’s political leadership and efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The High Commission of India in Mbabane announced the departure of Prasad after what it described as a successful tenure, with members of the mission wishing him success in his future endeavours.
Prasad’s departure has also prompted messages of appreciation from people who worked with or interacted with him during his time in Eswatini.
Madonsela Phile, Director at Global Education Initiative, thanked the outgoing High Commissioner for his support for Eswatini students pursuing studies in India.
“Dear Mr. Prasad,
As you conclude your tenure in Eswatini, we sincerely thank you for your invaluable support and assistance to Eswatini students pursuing their studies in India. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
We wish you continued success in your future endeavours.”
Busisiwe Manana also bid farewell to the High Commissioner, while Pronab Sen wished him well in his new assignment and encouraged him to remain in contact.
Vaidyanathan Krishnamurthy similarly sent his best wishes, writing: “Best wishes to you dear Ram Prasad for a successful stint there. Rgs”
Prasad’s final engagements with senior Eswatini officials included farewell calls with the country’s top leadership.
On September 7, the High Commissioner paid a farewell call on His Majesty King Mswati III. During the meeting, Prasad thanked the King for his support, guidance and encouragement in efforts to advance relations between India and Eswatini.
According to the High Commissioner’s account of the meeting, King Mswati III recognised Prasad’s contribution to India and Eswatini’s bilateral relations and wished him well in his future endeavours.
On August 27, Prasad met Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini for a farewell engagement.
“HC Mr Ram Prasad bid farewell to H.E. Mr Russell Mmiso Dlamini Right Hon’ble PM, Eswatini Government who appreciated HC’s contribution to strengthening bilateral relations. HC thanked PM for his strong support and guidance.”
Prasad also made a farewell call on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Senator Pholile Dlamini Shakantu on August 13.
The two officials reviewed bilateral cooperation and discussed ways of strengthening relations between India and Eswatini.
Prasad thanked Shakantu for her support, guidance and cooperation throughout his tenure.
His farewell engagements come as India and Eswatini continue to maintain diplomatic and economic ties covering areas including education, development cooperation, trade, investment and people to people relations.
The outgoing High Commissioner’s support for Eswatini students studying in India was also cited among his contributions during his tenure, reflecting the broader educational links between the two countries.
