London – The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Manqoba Khumalo, led an Eswatini delegation to the International Sugar Organization Annual Conference in London, United Kingdom, last week. The team included the CEO of the Eswatini Sugar Association, Banele Nyamane, and Eswatini’s High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Thandazile Mbuyisa.

During the conference, the delegation held meetings with key international stakeholders to advance Eswatini’s sugar industry interests. Discussions covered skills and technology transfer, opening new markets, improving industry efficiency and diversification, and examining factors that affect global sugar prices.

The group also explored opportunities in ethanol and energy production, while engaging in dialogue on climate change impacts and sustainable practices within the sugar sector. Minister Khumalo conducted private sessions with industry representatives from Brazil, Côte d’Ivoire, the UK, and India, while attending all seminars and council sessions scheduled for the week.
