Gqeberha – IIsuzu Motors South Africa collected four merit awards during the 2025 Exporters Eastern Cape Awards, held on Friday 14 November 2025 at a gala banquet in Gqeberha. The awards recognised the manufacturer’s performance in environmental stewardship, job creation, community development and export excellence.

The event drew senior business leaders and key industry players who gathered to acknowledge companies contributing to economic growth across the Eastern Cape. Isuzu secured merit awards in the SJM Flex Environmental Award, IDC Job Creation Award, Community Chest CSI Award and Best Exporter OEM Award categories, cementing its role as a major player in the region’s automotive sector.

Executive Vice President for Corporate Services Celestin Ndhlovu said the awards reflect what the organisation stands for and its commitment to responsible production, community upliftment and long term economic development. He said the company plans to continue expanding its export footprint across the African continent while contributing to economic prosperity in the Eastern Cape and South Africa.

The environmental category recognition followed Isuzu’s work in sustainable manufacturing through resource efficient operations, a zero to landfill approach and ongoing investments in cleaner mobility technologies aimed at supporting ecological resilience.

The IDC Job Creation merit award acknowledged the company’s continued expansion of employment opportunities in the local automotive value chain. Over the past financial year, Isuzu has created sustainable jobs, accelerated skills development and supported enterprise growth.

In the Community Chest CSI Award category, Isuzu was recognised for investing more than R1 million annually in community upliftment programmes focused on youth development, education, health and entrepreneurship.

The Best Exporter OEM merit award acknowledged the company’s strong export performance across Sub Saharan Africa and its role in supporting South Africa’s competitiveness in vehicle exports.
