CAPE TOWN, South Africa, 19 October 2026 Angola’s Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, is scheduled to speak at the 19th Africa Energy Indaba, which will bring together African and international energy stakeholders in Cape Town from 2 to 4 March 2027.

The conference will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) under the theme “African Energy – Pathways to Prosperity: Connectedness and Cooperation.”

Borges’ participation is expected to contribute to discussions on Africa’s energy priorities, including cross border cooperation, infrastructure development, investment and efforts to expand access to reliable and affordable electricity.

Angola’s involvement comes as African countries seek to strengthen their energy systems, improve electricity trade between neighbouring states and mobilise funding for projects capable of supporting industrialisation and long term economic growth.

The country’s participation will provide an opportunity to discuss how governments and energy industry players can work together to improve regional power connectivity, strengthen energy security and develop infrastructure that serves growing demand across the continent.

Liz Hart, Managing Director of the Africa Energy Indaba, said:

“Africa’s energy future depends on our ability to work together, connect our resources and infrastructure, and create an environment that attracts investment. The participation of Minister João Baptista Borges underscores the importance of bringing African leadership together to address shared challenges and unlock new opportunities across the energy value chain. Through the Africa Energy Indaba, we aim to facilitate the partnerships and practical conversations needed to accelerate energy development and support the continent’s economic growth.”

Energy access, infrastructure financing and security remain major concerns for African governments as they work to expand electricity supply and support economic development. Cooperation between governments, utilities, development finance institutions and private companies is expected to play a significant role in building more connected and resilient power systems.

The 2027 conference will provide a forum for policymakers, investors, energy companies and industry experts to exchange knowledge, establish partnerships and consider solutions across several areas of the energy sector.

These include power generation, electricity transmission and distribution, renewable energy, regional electricity markets and energy financing.

Organisers expect delegates from across Africa and the international energy industry to attend the three day gathering, which aims to encourage investment, strengthen cooperation and advance discussions on the continent’s energy development.

Industry stakeholders, policymakers and energy professionals have been invited to participate in the event.

The Africa Energy Indaba will run from 2 to 4 March 2027 at the CTICC in Cape Town, South Africa.
