Guyana’s President, Irfaan Ali, received the credentials of the new Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Guyana, Faisal bin Ibrahim Ghulam, on Thursday. The ceremony at the President’s Office marked a new chapter in relations between the two countries.
President Ali expressed his hope for a “vibrant and expanding relationship” between Guyana and Saudi Arabia. Discussions during the accreditation ceremony focused on establishing bilateral trade in key sectors like food production, energy, and oil and gas.
The President highlighted Saudi Arabia’s plans to open an embassy in Georgetown, Guyana’s capital. This embassy, Ali believes, will serve as a springboard for deeper cooperation between the two nations.
Ambassador Ghulam echoed the President’s sentiments, pledging his commitment to advancing the bilateral agenda. Notably, Guyana and Saudi Arabia established diplomatic ties in 2012, and this new chapter promises to unlock significant opportunities for collaboration.
