Skopje, North Macedonia – Zambia has officially inaugurated a new ambassador to North Macedonia, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Lieutenant General Dr. William Maipambe Sikazwe presented his credentials to President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova on Thursday, July 25, at the Presidential Palace in Skopje.
In his address, Ambassador Sikazwe conveyed warm greetings from Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema and expressed admiration for President Siljanovska-Davkova’s leadership. He emphasized Zambia’s keen interest in learning from North Macedonia’s experiences in various sectors, particularly technology, health, manufacturing, tourism, and education.
The Zambian envoy also highlighted opportunities for collaboration in mining, agriculture, and renewable energy. He extended an invitation to North Macedonian investors to explore business opportunities in Zambia, citing the country’s favorable investment climate.
To facilitate increased trade and people-to-people exchange, Ambassador Sikazwe proposed the mutual waiver of visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders and a gradual relaxation of visa restrictions for other passport holders.
In response, President Siljanovska-Davkova welcomed Ambassador Sikazwe and expressed her country’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Zambia. She identified education, health, environmental conservation, and sustainable development as areas of potential collaboration.
