MBABANE – Three cabinet ministers met with representatives of the U.S.-based Baker Group of Companies on Monday to explore possible partnerships aimed at strengthening Eswatini’s long-term energy security.

The meeting took place in Mbabane and brought together senior officials from the Ministries of Natural Resources and Energy, Commerce and Trade, and Finance. Also present were representatives from the Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) and the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA).

HRH Prince Lonkhokhela told the delegation that the country must work towards producing its own power through local generation methods that are both affordable and sustainable.

The discussions touched on future investments and possible areas of collaboration, particularly around power generation technologies that can reduce Eswatini’s dependence on imported electricity.

Following the talks, the delegation visited the Prime Minister’s Office, where they paid a courtesy call to the Right Honourable Prime Minister Russell Dlamini.
