Songo-cahora-bassa – Mozambique President Daniel Chapo met with World Bank President Ajay Banga today, Saturday 19th July 2025, during a working visit to the country’s major energy infrastructure in Tete Province.

Chapo and Banga visited the Cahora Bassa Dam, one of the largest hydroelectric power projects in Southern Africa, responsible for energy production, transportation and export to neighbouring countries.

The Mozambican leader said the visit focused on exploring the country’s energy potential, particularly in Tete, with the aim of positioning Mozambique as a future energy hub on the continent.

Chapo told journalists that government is working with strategic partners to harness natural resources to drive economic growth and improve the living conditions of Mozambicans.
