SIPHOFANENI – Twenty Emaswati have secured jobs at the newly opened Hungry Lion outlet in Siphofaneni, according to Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo.

The minister made the announcement during the official opening of the fast-food franchise, describing the development as a boost to local employment and business linkages.

He said the company had committed to hiring and training staff from within the area, offering much-needed work opportunities to young people. Khumalo encouraged local suppliers to partner with the franchise by providing quality goods, which he said would strengthen the domestic value chain.

Hungry Lion has operated in Eswatini since 1999, while its meat supplier, Elangeni Food Group, has been active in the country since 1994.

The minister told guests that the jobs created through the store have helped workers earn a stable income and better support their families. He said government values such investments and called on more companies to follow suit.

He also noted that the franchise sources meat and other ingredients locally, which he said shows its willingness to build stronger ties within the local supply network.
