KASHALI – A waste management initiative funded by the Eswatini Environment Fund (EEF) is showing strong results in KaShali, with officials reporting major improvements in community cleanliness, youth employment, and waste handling practices.
The EEF team conducted a site visit to the project, which was launched during the 2023/2024 funding cycle, to assess its progress and overall impact. According to their findings, waste collection in the area has increased significantly due to more active community involvement, better waste sorting, and the addition of new collection points.
The initiative has led to a noticeable decline in illegal dumping and has helped curb pollution in the area. Beyond its environmental gains, the project has created employment opportunities for local youth, who are now playing a key role in waste management operations.
