Siteki – Four people have been arrested and charged in separate firearm and wildlife related cases during an intelligence led operation conducted under the Siteki police precinct on Saturday.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service said the operation was carried out at about 6am on 15 August 2026.

A 40 year old man from Mzilikazi was arrested after police allegedly found him in possession of a 12 bore shotgun and one live round of ammunition without a licence or permit.

A 33 year old man from the same area was also arrested after he was allegedly found with a rifle without a valid licence or permit.

Police further arrested a 67 year old woman from Khutsala after allegedly finding her in possession of a rifle without the required licence or permit.

According to information provided by the police, two of the firearms belonged to the woman’s late husband. She allegedly failed to report the firearms to the police or apply for licences or permits in her name.

She is also accused of giving one of the firearms to the two men arrested in Mzilikazi for alleged poaching activities.

All three suspects face charges under the Arms and Ammunition Act.

A 30 year old woman from Lugongolweni was arrested in a separate case and charged under the Game Act.

Police allegedly found her in possession of kudu horns, wildebeest horns and two impala hooves without a valid licence or permit.

The four suspects were scheduled to appear before the Siteki Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 August 2026.
