DAKAR, Senegal: President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is scheduled to meet International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, September 15, as Senegal seeks to advance discussions on its economic reforms and recent economic developments.
An IMF spokesperson confirmed the meeting on Monday, September 14, saying the talks would focus on Senegal’s economic situation and the government’s reform programme.
“We can confirm that the Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva will meet with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on September 15 in Washington, D.C. They will discuss recent economic developments and Senegal’s economic reform program.”
The meeting comes as Senegal continues implementing an economic reform programme while engaging with the IMF over the country’s fiscal and broader economic outlook.
Faye’s discussions with Georgieva are expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to review recent developments and the progress of the government’s reform agenda.
The Senegalese president is undertaking a diplomatic and economic tour that includes Washington and Abu Dhabi.
According to a statement from Senegal’s Council of Ministers published last week, Faye is scheduled to make a working visit to Washington on September 14 and 15 before travelling to Abu Dhabi for an official visit on September 16 and 17.
