Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council, led the country’s delegation at a key tourism meeting in Moscow. The BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting, held under the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” brought together representatives from member states to discuss fostering cooperation in sustainable tourism.

Russia, which currently holds the BRICS 2024 Chairmanship, hosted the discussions focused on developing joint initiatives and exploring untapped tourism potential within the BRICS bloc.

Minister bin Touq underlined the UAE’s strong commitment to building stronger tourism ties with BRICS nations. He stressed the importance of forging new partnerships that prioritize sustainability while boosting economic growth, promoting cultural exchange, and solidifying the UAE’s position as a premier global tourist destination. This aligns perfectly with the nation’s ambitious “We the UAE 2031” vision.

“We are fully committed to working alongside our BRICS partners to create a robust and sustainable tourism sector,” declared bin Touq. He elaborated on key areas of collaboration, including enhancing air connectivity and infrastructure development. The strategic locations of both the UAE and BRICS nations hold immense potential, he highlighted. Additionally, leveraging digital transformation and technology across tourism sectors, along with sharing best practices, were identified as crucial aspects to facilitate travel and increase tourist flow among member states.

Bin Touq further reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to advancing sustainable tourism with BRICS members. He pledged the country’s full support in achieving this shared objective. Notably, the UAE is actively collaborating with the United Nations World Tourism Organization to implement the Sustainable Tourism Measurement Framework, showcasing its commitment to responsible tourism development.
