Mbabane – The Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, Ambassador Melusi Masuku, welcomed delegates from the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) during their visit to the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The delegation, which is in the country to engage on matters of continental trade and quality assurance, met with government officials and local stakeholders to strengthen regional cooperation in standardisation.
Masuku, speaking on behalf of His Majesty’s Government, told the visiting delegates that Eswatini sees their presence as a strategic step toward a unified and industrialised Africa operating under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He described the meeting as a chance to review progress and deepen ties through shared standards and economic goals.
As part of Eswatini’s contribution to the broader quality framework on the continent, Masuku announced that the country is developing a national product certification mark known as “Íngelo.” He said the mark is intended to symbolise excellence, support local manufacturers, and build consumer trust, while also improving access to markets both regionally and internationally.
He added that Eswatini aims to play an active role in the success of AfCFTA by promoting quality production and ensuring competitiveness in the African market.
