Mbabane – Minister of Information, Communications and Technology Savannah Maziya has officially opened a four-day workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity needed to operationalise the Eswatini National Research Council.
The workshop began on Tuesday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mbabane and will run until 28 August 2026. It brings together key stakeholders and experts to develop the systems and skills required for the effective functioning of the council.
The engagement is being held under the theme, “Realizing a 50 Year Vision: Unleashing Eswatini’s Potential Through a Fully Operational National Research Council.”
Maziya called on stakeholders to ensure that research conducted in Eswatini is practical, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the country and the African continent.
She also called for research and innovation programmes that include all sections of society, saying their outcomes should improve the lives and opportunities of emaSwati.
