Ezulwini – Governors of the Common Monetary Area (CMA) convened at the Central Bank of Eswatini Complex on Friday, July 3, 2026, to reinforce their collective response to the economic challenges facing Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa.
In his welcoming remarks, Central Bank of Eswatini Governor Dr Phil Mnisi said, “The strong relationships among CMA institutions are vital in safeguarding monetary and financial stability, while advancing the economic interests of their respective countries.”
Among key issues being discussed in the meeting is the Balance of Payments Harmonisation Project, a key regional initiative designed to enhance the consistency and comparability of external sector statistics.
Mnisi encouraged CMA Governors and senior officials to take some time to experience the beauty, rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The meeting follows Thursday’s high level quarterly session where officials from the CMA member states discussed regional macroeconomic and financial stability.
