EU-funded cultural tourism project launches in Matsanjeni North

The Eswatini National Trust Commission (ENTC) has officially introduced a regional cultural heritage tourism project to the Matsanjeni North Inkhundla Council, marking the start of what is expected to be a transformative initiative for communities in the area.

The project, titled “Promoting Cultural Heritage-Based Sustainable Tourism in Southern Africa,” is funded by the European Union through UNESCO, with the ENTC serving as the implementing agency for Matsanjeni North Inkhundla.

An ENTC team visited Matsanjeni North Inkhundla to formally present the project to the Inkhundla Council, engaging key community leaders including the Member of Parliament, the Indvuna Yenkhundla, Bucopho representing four chiefdoms, and Community Development Committee members. Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi was also among those present during the engagement.

During the engagement, the council was taken through the full project workplan, providing a clear roadmap of activities and milestones, as well as the government structures that will support implementation throughout the process.
