Zambia and Ghana sign 10 bilateral agreements

LUSAKA – Zambia and Ghana have formalised closer ties with the signing of 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at State House on Friday, February 6, 2026. The agreements are aimed at boosting cooperation across diplomatic, economic, and security sectors.

The agreements cover:

  1. Waiver of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official/service, and ordinary passports
  2. Addendum to the memorandum of understanding on military defence cooperation
  3. Rules of procedure for the joint defence implementation committee
  4. Bilateral air services agreement
  5. Cooperation in the field of health
  6. Regulatory collaboration between the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) and Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDAG)
  7. Diaspora cooperation between Zambia and Ghana
  8. Cooperation in disaster risk management
  9. Institutional collaboration between the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA)
  10. Standardisation and conformity assessment between the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) and the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA)

State House Media reported that the signing aims to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen trade, security, and institutional cooperation between the two countries. Officials from both nations were present at the ceremony.
