MOGADISHU, Somalia: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has recognised Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation as the country’s second best performing ministry following a government wide evaluation of ministries’ delivery against their 2026 plans and targets.
The recognition was presented to Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Abdisalam Ali by President Mohamud during the government’s annual accountability exhibition in Mogadishu on 14 September 2026.
The evaluation assessed the performance of government ministries against commitments and targets set for 2026, with the Foreign Affairs Ministry receiving the second highest ranking.
President Mohamud urged ministers to build on the results recorded during this year’s assessment and continue improving the delivery of government programmes and services.
Minister Abdisalam dedicated the recognition to the ministry’s staff as well as Somalia’s embassies and diplomatic missions abroad, crediting their work for the ministry’s performance.
He described the award as a responsibility rather than a milestone and said the ministry remained committed to advancing Somalia’s foreign policy while serving Somali citizens both within the country and abroad.
