In a statement made by Victor Okpala, Spotify’s Artiste and Label Partnerships Manager for West Africa, it was revealed that Davido’s music is the most streamed in countries such as the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Canada, and France.

According to Okpala, Davido’s songs have been featured on over 10 million user-generated playlists on Spotify, which shows that the afrobeat star’s fan appeal is undeniable.

Data from Spotify also indicates that Davido is one of afrobeats’ biggest exports, and while he is undoubtedly loved in his home country of Nigeria, the United States is the largest market for his music, with the majority of his plays coming from outside of Africa.

Okpala further revealed that Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album was promoted on a billboard in New York’s Times Square, announcing the album to international audiences in one of the world’s most iconic public spaces. This new release has been well-received by fans and artists alike, with many appreciating Davido’s ability to find cohesion within a body of work that plays host to diverse collaborators.

Spotify is dedicated to showcasing the best of African content and talent, and providing a platform to connect with and grow global fan bases. According to Okpala, Davido’s global reach is a testament to his talent and the vast power and access that streaming offers. The company is honored to play its role in sharing his art and ethos with his dedicated fans in Nigeria and around the world.
