Ford Motor Company Southern Africa (FMCSA) has announced recalls affecting 21,777 vehicles across the region, including Eswatini. The models involved are the Ranger, Mustang, EcoSport, Everest, and Transit Custom.
The first recall concerns eight 2025 Ford Rangers in South Africa with transmission main valve bodies that do not meet specifications. This defect can cause the vehicle to move forward when in reverse, activating warning lights and increasing accident risk. Replacement parts are not currently available and are expected by October 2025. Customers will be notified when repairs can be scheduled free of charge.
The second recall affects 33 vehicles built between 2018 and 2023, including Mustangs, EcoSports, Rangers, and Everests. The issue relates to repeated short ignition cycles, which can cause the SYNC system to malfunction and result in a frozen or incorrect rear-view camera display. A software update to fix the problem is expected in the third quarter of 2025.
The third recall targets 21,736 vehicles in Southern Africa, including 15 in Eswatini. Affected models are Rangers, Everests, and Transit Customs built between 2021 and 2025. The infotainment screen in these vehicles may freeze or reboot, potentially affecting rear-view camera functionality while reversing. FMCSA will notify owners when the software remedy is available.
Owners are urged to check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Ford’s official portal to confirm if their vehicle is affected. Repairs for all recalls will be provided free of charge once parts or software updates are ready.
