Mbabane – The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office convened government departments, civil society and development partners this week for a gender equality coordination workshop aimed at fast-tracking reforms in Eswatini’s public sector.
The Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (GEWE) Coordination Mechanism workshop took place in Mbabane on Wednesday, bringing together ministries and non-governmental organisations under one roof to iron out how gender considerations can be mainstreamed into national programmes.
The DPM’s Office called the gathering to strengthen collaboration and ensure policies and services reflect the realities and needs of women and girls across the country.
Discussions at the meeting focused on the use of responsive budgeting and strengthening cluster coordination to translate gender policies into practical actions. Officials said proper financial planning and multi-sectoral cooperation will allow the country to tackle gender inequality from the national down to the community level.
