MBABANE – Two young officers from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) have returned to the country after completing a two-year Diploma in Police Science at the Cairo Police Academy in Egypt.
Khulekani Nxumalo (24) and Mpendulo Gama (20) were part of the Africa Police Cadets Programme, a bilateral initiative that has seen several REPS officers undergo specialised training in Cairo. Their studies covered areas such as counterterrorism, organised crime, asymmetric warfare, forensic science, criminal investigations, and crisis management.
The cadets’ training involved both physical and academic instruction, with additional focus on traffic policing, drug prevention, public communication, and the role of women in peacekeeping.
National Commissioner of Police, Manoma Vusi Masango, officially welcomed the pair and urged them to apply their new knowledge to the country’s policing challenges. Masango told the returning officers they are expected to contribute directly to modernising law enforcement and positioning Eswatini as a capable partner in global security.
Speaking on behalf of the duo, Nxumalo thanked the organisation for the opportunity and said they are ready to use their skills to support national efforts in crime prevention and public safety.
