MBABANE – Eswatini’s agriculture sector is set for a boost following the launch of five new projects funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.
The programmes, valued at E14.6 million (USD 821,000), were officially introduced by the Minister of Agriculture this week. They are part of FAO’s Technical Cooperation Programmes (TCPs) for 2025–2027 and are expected to directly support national efforts to increase food production and strengthen resilience among farmers.
The projects include tackling tick infestations and related livestock diseases, transforming food systems, updating the country’s soil and agroecological maps, helping smallholder farmers cope with challenges, and improving national climate change coordination.
The Minister said the collaboration with FAO reflects a continued effort to support youth and women in agriculture and to grow investment in the sector through initiatives like the National Agricultural Investment Plan (ENAIP 2.0).
