Dedza — Malawi and Mozambique have officially opened the Dedza One-Stop Border Post, a move aimed at improving trade and regional ties between the two countries. The ceremony took place in Dedza district, with both Presidents Lazarus Chakwera and Daniel Francisco Chapo in attendance.
President Chakwera said the new border facility will help unlock economic opportunities and strengthen infrastructure development, benefiting both nations. His Mozambican counterpart, President Chapo, promised continued support for trade activities to accelerate economic growth, urging unity by describing the two countries as “one people.”
Malawi’s Minister of Trade, Vitumbiko Mumba, called the border post a key development that will enhance efficiency and reduce delays at the border. He also acknowledged the role of the World Bank and other partners in making the project a reality.
