RHMs trained on diabetes, hypertension care

A three-day health promotion workshop aimed at tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs) wrapped up on Thursday, 23 May, in a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health and the Technical Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Eswatini.

Held from 21 to 23 May, the training focused on equipping rural health motivators (RHMs) with practical skills to manage and prevent diabetes and hypertension, two of the country’s most pressing health concerns.

Participants were trained on self-assessment methods and basic care skills, enabling them to become frontline agents in their communities for NCD awareness and early intervention.

The workshop also introduced a nutrition component through the Taiwan-Africa Vegetable Initiative. RHMs received vegetable seeds, planting guides, and nutrition education aimed at improving household diets and reducing the long-term risk of NCDs.
