Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) CEO Dr. Alfred Hannig met with Eswatini’s financial inclusion working groups on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, to review ongoing efforts to improve access to financial services across the country.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Central Bank of Eswatini, Ministry of Finance, Centre for Financial Inclusion, and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority. Discussions focused on progress made so far and challenges that still limit access to financial tools for many emaSwati.

Dr. Hannig, who is concluding a two-day visit to the Kingdom, heard recommendations for expanding inclusion and praised the ongoing cooperation among local stakeholders. His engagement follows the Financial Inclusion Symposium 2025, which drew attention to the need for greater access and affordability in the sector.

Speaking during the closing session, Linda Dlamini, Deputy Director of Fintech and Innovation, called for stronger coordination across institutions. She said deliberate action will be needed to make meaningful progress for ordinary citizens who remain outside the formal financial system.
