King Mswati III has declared that army recruitments will recommence this year, aiming to strengthen the nation’s military forces. The announcement was made during the 52nd Army Day celebrations at the Nokwane Army Headquarters in Matsapha.
The King also took the opportunity to promote key military personnel. Brigadier General Ncanawe Dlamini was elevated to Major General, while Mthiza Dlamini, Bongani Siphitsiphitsi Simelane, Comfort Bhembe, Bheki Tsabedze, and Petros Bhembe were all promoted to Brigadier Generals.
His Majesty explained that the resumption of recruitments is a key element of succession planning, a strategy he views as crucial for the success of any nation. He praised the army’s ongoing innovations, including the growth of defense industries, the development of the Mbuluzi School of Infantry, and the creation of the defense attaches program.
The King reaffirmed the country’s commitment to supporting the army’s initiatives and ensuring their continued success. Additionally, he acknowledged the African Union’s call to “silence the guns” and commended the army’s contributions to the nation’s peace and security efforts.
