KaLonhlupheko, a community long associated with economic hardship, is undergoing a transformation as King Mswati III pushes for development in the region. Speaking at the inauguration of the KaLanga Gateway shopping centre and filling station in the Lubombo Region, the monarch expressed optimism that poverty in the area would soon be a thing of the past.
The newly unveiled infrastructure signals a shift in a region historically affected by drought, unemployment, and slow economic growth. The King acknowledged ongoing initiatives aimed at addressing these challenges, reinforcing the government’s commitment to job creation and economic expansion.
Among upcoming projects, a pharmaceutical company is set to be established, promising employment opportunities and further industrialization. Water supply, a long-standing issue in the area, has also seen improvements, though additional efforts are required to meet the community’s full needs and support agricultural activities.
With the introduction of the shopping complex and filling station, residents now have easier access to essential services, including banking, reducing the need for long-distance travel.
King Mswati III encouraged community members with development proposals to present them to local governance structures, such as Imiphakatsi, to ensure they receive the necessary support to bring their ideas to fruition.
