MBABANE – The Eswatini Ministry of Education and Training has signed a grant agreement with the Japanese Embassy for the construction of an Agriculture Laboratory at Mhlumeni High School in the Lubombo Region.
Lungelo Nhlengetfwa, the Ministry’s Under Secretary for Schools, represented the Principal Secretary during the signing ceremony, while the Japanese Embassy was represented by Counsellor Andoi Kei.
Nhlengetfwa expressed appreciation for the Japanese Embassy’s Grassroots Project, which has positively impacted local schools by improving infrastructure and diversifying curricula. He highlighted the success of previous projects, including the construction of Consumer Science, Science, and ICT Laboratories across various schools.
Nhlengetfwa also noted the significance of the new Agriculture Laboratory for Mhlumeni High School, which began operations in 2022. The facility will provide students with valuable agricultural skills and enable the school to introduce Agriculture as a formal subject.
The headteacher of Mhlumeni High, Martin Surtee, signed the agreement on behalf of the school.
