Mbabane – Twenty-five young people from the University of Eswatini and the Institute of Development Management have completed a three-day Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Ambassadors Training, organised by Eswatini O3 Changemakers in collaboration with AHF Eswatini.
The training brought together 20 students from the University of Eswatini (UNESWA) and five from the Institute of Development Management (IDM), all committed to becoming champions for sexual and reproductive health and rights in their institutions and communities.
Bayabonga Masuku, a member of the UNICEF Youth Advisory Board Alumni, facilitated a session on Opportunities in SRHR during the training, covering pathways in youth advocacy, research, leadership, volunteering, fellowships and policy engagement. The session also explored how young people can contribute to addressing research gaps through evidence generation and innovation.
Masuku said the session was inspired by his own experience serving on the UNICEF Youth Advisory Board from 2023 to 2026, which opened doors to regional and global youth engagement opportunities and strengthened his leadership and advocacy skills.
“When young people are given opportunities, they do not just participate, they lead, innovate, and transform communities,” Masuku said.
He thanked AHF Eswatini, Eswatini O3 Changemakers, IDM, fellow facilitators and all participants for making the training impactful.
