Sikuphe – Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in the Kingdom of Eswatini for the country’s double celebration marking His Majesty King Mswati III’s 58th birthday anniversary and 40 years on the throne.
Writing on his official social media account upon arrival, President Mnangagwa said he was honoured to join His Majesty and the people of Eswatini for what he described as a truly historic occasion.
“I have arrived in the beautiful Kingdom of Eswatini to join my brother, His Majesty King Mswati III, and the people of this great nation for a truly historic ‘Double Celebration’,” Mnangagwa wrote.
“We gather here to honor two remarkable milestones: the 40th Anniversary of His Majesty’s Coronation his Ruby Jubilee and his 58th Birthday,” he added.
The Zimbabwean leader pointed to the deep historical and cultural bonds between the two countries, noting that his visit follows His Majesty’s recent visit to Zimbabwe’s International Trade Fair, describing it as a testament to the enduring friendship and growing economic cooperation between the two nations.
President Mnangagwa said the celebrations at Somhlolo National Stadium carry a broader regional significance as well.
“As we celebrate these milestones at the Somhlolo National Stadium, we reaffirm our commitment to a peaceful, integrated, and prosperous SADC region,” he said.
“Congratulations, Your Majesty! Together, we continue to build a stronger future for our people,” Mnangagwa added.
He joins Botswana’s President Duma Boko among the foreign heads of state who have arrived in the Kingdom for the historic celebrations.
