JOHANNESBURG — Details have emerged around the killing of South African media personality Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, with investigators alleging that R25000 was paid to carry out the murder.
EWN reported that the money paid for the killing of the 40-year-old was split among three people. Sources close to the investigation said the amount was shared between the alleged shooter, an accomplice captured on CCTV footage on the day of the killing, and the owner of the firearm, who has not yet been arrested.
On Monday morning, 25 year old Armindo Pacula appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court following his arrest on Friday in the East Rand. His arrest came more than a month after Stock was shot dead in Johannesburg’s central business district.
Pacula is accused of being paid R7000 to shoot and kill Stock. Investigators believe the full amount of R25000 was initially paid for the hit before being divided among those involved.
Stock was shot five times on December 16, 2025, in Johannesburg’s CBD, a killing that sent shockwaves through the media and entertainment industry across Southern Africa, including in the Kingdom of Eswatini where DJ Warras was well known through radio and club culture.
Police have not disclosed details about who financed the killing but have confirmed that 44 year old Soweto taxi boss Victor Majola allegedly planned the murder. Majola was arrested six days after Stock was killed and was denied bail last month.
