Rabat – The Confederation of African Football has opened a disciplinary investigation into incidents involving players, officials and members of the media during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 quarter final matches featuring Cameroon against hosts Morocco and Algeria against Nigeria.
CAF confirmed that recent match reports and video footage point to conduct that may breach competition regulations during the two fixtures, which were played in Morocco earlier this week as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
According to the continental football body, the matters have been formally referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board, which will assess the evidence and determine whether sanctions are warranted should any individuals be found to have acted outside the rules.
The investigation also extends to an incident in the mixed zone where members of the media are alleged to have behaved inappropriately following one of the quarter final matches. CAF said it is reviewing available footage to establish the facts surrounding that episode.
The governing body reiterated its stance against conduct that disrupts matches or targets referees and match organisers, noting that professional standards are expected from all participants at CAF events.
