Taiwan tops global healthcare rankings

Taipei – Taiwan has been ranked number one worldwide for healthcare, according to Numbeo’s 2025 mid-year report on the Best Healthcare Systems. The country scored 87.0 points for quality, accessibility, and affordability of medical services, placing it ahead of South Korea and the Netherlands.

South Korea came second with 82.8 points, followed by the Netherlands at 80.6. Japan scored 80.2, Austria 78.5, Denmark 78.3, and Ecuador 78.0. Other countries in the top ten included Finland (77.4), Spain (77.3), Thailand (77.3), and France (77.2).

The full ranking of the 50 countries surveyed is as follows: Taiwan 87.0, South Korea 82.8, Netherlands 80.6, Japan 80.2, Austria 78.5, Denmark 78.3, Ecuador 78.0, Finland 77.4, Spain 77.3, Thailand 77.3, France 77.2, Norway 75.8, Belgium 75.8, Czech Republic 75.5, Luxembourg 75.1, Estonia 74.8, Lithuania 74.7, Qatar 73.5, Israel 73.4, Australia 73.1, Mexico 72.7, Portugal 72.0, Singapore 71.8, Germany 71.7, Sri Lanka 71.4, Turkey 71.3, Malaysia 70.7, United Arab Emirates 70.7, Colombia 68.9, China 68.7, Canada 68.6, Sweden 68.6, Uruguay 68.5, New Zealand 68.1, Argentina 67.9, Iceland 67.9, United States 67.5, Guatemala 67.2, Philippines 66.8, Hong Kong (China) 66.5, Slovenia 66.3, India 65.5, Jordan 65.5, Costa Rica 65.1, Italy 64.9, Croatia 64.8, South Africa 64.0, Lebanon 63.7.

The ranking measures healthcare quality, ease of access, and cost to provide a global benchmark for citizens and governments.
