MOSCOW, Russia – Russia has convened its ambassadors accredited to African countries to assess the next phase of engagement with the continent, with discussions focusing on implementing agreements reached at the third Russia-Africa Summit and expanding cooperation across key sectors.

The meeting was held on November 2 at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the chairmanship of Deputy Foreign Minister G.E. Borisenko.

Representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation, known as Rossotrudnichestvo, alongside officials from other government departments and organisations, attended the discussions.

According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting examined a broad range of issues affecting relations between Russia and African countries, including political engagement, economic cooperation, trade, energy, industrial development and food security.

Education and sanitary and epidemiological cooperation also featured on the agenda, reflecting Moscow’s intention to maintain engagement with African partners across development and public service sectors.
