New York – Former OAFLAD President Monica Geingos attended a high-level Organisation of African First Ladies for Development side event on Tuesday, 23 September 2025, held during the 80th United Nations General Assembly. The event launched the Building Resilience campaign and featured a panel discussion on supporting women and girls in regions affected by climate change and conflict.

Ms Geingos congratulated OAFLAD President Dr. Fatima Maada Bio and Vice President Mrs. Ana Afonso Dias Lourenço on the campaign’s successful launch, describing it as a critical initiative to protect, empower, and amplify the voices of women and girls across Africa.

She called for inclusive policies, investment in women-led solutions, and the active participation of women and girls in decision-making processes to strengthen resilience and promote equality and peace on the continent.
