EZULWINI – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade convened a validation workshop on the EU-SADC Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Implementation Strategy and Action Plan on Wednesday.
The session took place in Ezulwini and brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors. Representing the Principal Secretary was Cebile Nhlabatsi, who delivered remarks during the session.
Eswatini is one of six Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states that signed the EPA with the European Union in 2016, alongside Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, and South Africa. Mozambique joined the partnership in 2018.
The Agreement is structured to support poverty reduction, regional integration, improved governance, and integration of SADC EPA states into the global economy. It also aims to strengthen trade policy capacity in the region.
The strategy presented at the workshop outlines key challenges and targeted interventions to ensure Eswatini benefits fully from the Agreement’s provisions.
