Swakopmund – Namibia’s ports authority has taken centre stage at the AFRIQOM Conference currently underway at the Strand Hotel in Swakopmund, making a strong pitch for the Port of Walvis Bay as the preferred gateway for fertiliser trade across the African continent.
Delegates from across Africa, Europe and as far as the United Arab Emirates have converged in Swakopmund for the conference, which is focused on operational policy, technical best practice and the future of fertiliser trade on the continent.
Namport’s Executive for Commercial, Elias Mwenyo, delivered a presentation at the forum, putting forward the case for Walvis Bay as the key handling and trading hub for fertilisers, urea, ammonium nitrate and other special commodities linking Africa’s agricultural sector to global markets.
The Namibian Ports Authority said the opportunity presented by the conference is real and the port’s capability is proven, with Namibia positioning itself at the forefront of African trade through engagements such as this one.
