Nhlangano police have arrested four men from the Mashobeni area after they were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm in the town centre.
The suspects, aged 23, 22, 32 and 22, were apprehended inside a motor vehicle where a revolver pistol was discovered without a valid licence or permit. The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by the Royal Eswatini Police Service to remove illegal guns from communities.
The four are expected to appear before court today to face charges related to unlawful possession of a firearm.
The arrests come amid continued concern over the spread of illegal weapons in the country. During the Eswatini Amnesty Month in September 2025, Natcom Manoma Vusie Masango warned about the growing danger posed by illicit firearms.
“Sometimes, these firearms end up in wrong hands and are used to commit violent crimes such as murder and armed robberies hence it is important that we encourage Emaswati to surrender illegal firearms,” he said.
