MBABANE – The Eswatini Copyright and Neighboring Rights Society, ESWACOS, visited the set of Bigamy, part of the Kwasukasukela Lolonga short film series, yesterday as part of a skills development project funded by the Eswatini Communications Commission.
The visit gave ESWACOS officials a firsthand look at the processes behind film production, from concept development and directing to performance and technical execution. The organisation said the experience helped deepen their understanding of the collaborative work involved in bringing stories to life on screen.
The society reiterated its mandate extends beyond protecting musicians to include filmmakers, directors, actors, scriptwriters, producers, and all audiovisual content creators. ESWACOS works to ensure their creative works are legally protected, properly recognised, and compensated.
“The film and audiovisual sector is a vital part of the creative economy, and its contributors deserve the same level of copyright protection as all other rights holders,” ESWACOS said.
By engaging directly with production processes, ESWACOS said it is better positioned to support and represent the interests of those working in the audiovisual industry.
The organisation encouraged industry participants to visit its offices or website to register their works, understand their rights, and protect their creative output.
