Mbabane – The Royal Eswatini Police Service has recorded a series of arrests across several parts of the country during the period from January 2 to January 8 2026, linked to drug offences, violent crime, theft and rape.
In the Manzini Region, police arrested three men aged 38, 38 and 24 from the Luvinjelweni and Maphalaleni areas after they were found in possession of dagga weighing 90.25 kilograms. The suspects were apprehended at the Musi area and charged for possession of the illicit substance without a valid permit or licence.
In Mbabane, three male suspects aged 22, 27 and 19 from Luhlendweni and kaNcesi were taken into custody in connection with an armed robbery reported on January 5 at about midday. According to police, four men armed with a pistol and a bush knife attacked a 36 year old woman from Maphalaleni at Mbuyande Supermarket. The assailants robbed her of E4 500 in cash and two Itel One cellphones valued at E500 before fleeing the scene.
At Tshaneni, officers arrested a 37 year old man from Dvokolwako together with a 21 year old man from the Ondiyaneni area following the theft of 100 metres of black copper cable belonging to the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation. The cable, valued at E36 522, was discovered missing on January 4 at around 1700 hours.
In Lobamba, a 28 year old man from the Gundwini area was arrested after a hardware store was broken into during the early hours of January 5. Police said entry was gained through the door and goods worth E34 500, along with E2 000 in cash, were stolen. All the stolen property was later recovered at Gundwini.
In the Lubombo Region, a 28 year old man from Siteki kaMzilikazi was arrested in Simunye in connection with a rape case. An 18 year old girl from Hlane Mathendeni reported that she was raped by a known person in the fields at Hlane at about 0300 hours on January 1.
The police have urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by reporting criminal activity, stating that emergency assistance and reports of suspicious behaviour can be made by dialing 999, 9999 or 112.
